Science QUEST
About Science QUEST
Science QUEST is a program for 4th
through 12th grade science teachers. The academy will foster an integrated
approach to teaching science with emphasis on current science topics with a
hands-on approach. Teachers will collaborate with like-minded professionals and
will be provided with items to complement the day's explorations.
Science QUEST establishes a collaboration of professionals interested in
improving student achievement in mathematics and science.
This collaboration consists of:
- University professors
- District science teachers
- University undergraduate students interested in teaching
- University graduate students interested in research
Training/Benefits
Participants are exposed to useful interactive classroom ideas which bring relevance and excitement to the learning of science. Contemporary science topics as well as foundations of the current scientific knowledge will form the content of the program. Participants are given the opportunity to refine their scientific skills in hypothesizing, observing, recording, writing, and presenting scientific results.
Teachers will receive books and materials to replicate projects in their classrooms. UC credits for professional development will also be available.
